The Australian telecommunications ecosystem map
August 03, 2020 - Written by Diffuse Energy
Telecommunications companies play an essential role in keeping Australia (and the world) connected. They are often solely responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure systems such as emergency .....
We’re pleased to bring you the most comprehensive ecosystem map of the Australian telecommunications market.
It features more than 480 organisations across 37 market segments. From licensed carriers, to solution providers, consultants, hardware suppliers, government and industry markets.
This is a great resource for policy makers, market leaders, and new entrants who are looking to get a feel for the industry. This will help identify value chains, opportunities, and collaborators.
All good ideas start as a sketch on a scrap of paper - and this project was no different! It started out as a quick doodle on a notepad, but quickly grew into a few A3 sheets, and finally consumed an entire whiteboard. We’ve transcribed it as an interactive map here in Lucidchart. Why not jump in, zoom, play about and drill down into what makes the industry tick.
We compiled the map from publicly available databases such as the ACMA licensed carriers, the NSW Telco Authority vendor list, and maprad.io. Company websites were then used to identify the most relevant market segment classification. We appreciate that many companies operate across multiple segments and could equally be categorised elsewhere. Our rationale was to group companies based on their primary business offering.
The 2020 Australian telco ecosystem map is publicly available and free to reuse. Like all complex systems the intention is to make this a "living and breathing" ecosystem map. We welcome contributors, comments and feedback. Updates will be pushed out live to the Lucidchart, so make sure you check back for updates.
For those who prefer to print their own hard copy, don't fear. We’ve published an A1 sized pdf here. Happy mind mapping!
